Journaling while travelling

Journaling while travelling

Vacations, backpacking trips, sabbaticals... are the perfect opportunities to practice journaling. While traveling, we fully enjoy every moment and refocus on the present, a habit we rarely have in our daily lives. Personally, during a months-long backpacking trip, I rediscovered the joy of journaling and immersed myself in that world again.

Here are a few tips for journaling while traveling:

Choose a small-sized journal (A5 or smaller): A compact and easily portable journal is essential when you're traveling. You can take it everywhere with you and jot down your thoughts and experiences as they happen, whether you're on a train, in a café, or at the beach.

Keep flyers and receipts to create a scrapbook: Collect souvenirs from your trip, such as flyers from places you visit, meal receipts, or transportation tickets. These little keepsakes can add a nice creative touch to your journal and serve as decorations.

Print a few photos: Photos are a great way to capture the highlights of your journey. Print out a few of your favorite photos and paste them in your journal to illustrate your experiences and bring your memories to life. Tip: take higher-quality photos, preferably using a camera, as printing smartphone photos doesn't always turn out well.

Write about your trip once you're back home: Even after you've returned, keep writing about your trip. Take time to reflect on your experiences, the lessons you've learned, and the memories you've made. This will help extend the travel experience and preserve precious memories for years to come.

Journaling while traveling is much more than just writing. It's a way to document your adventures and connect with yourself. So next time you set out to explore the world, don't forget to bring your journal and let your creativity flow. Happy travels and happy journaling! 🧳🏄🏽‍♀️
