How to start journaling ?

One of the questions I'm often asked is: how do I start journaling? Journaling is something very personal, there are no strict rules; it's really about what you like, according to your desires, your day, your mood, etc. You can capture your thoughts, set goals for the year, write letters to yourself to read at 30 or 40 years old, or simply express your creativity. The goal of "My Journal" is to introduce the concept of journaling, as found in the United States and Japan, to Europe, while maintaining the cute and aesthetic aspect commonly seen abroad.

In this article, we will give 5 key points to start journaling:

Choose the perfect journal
The first step, and often the most enjoyable for many of us, is choosing THE journal. The journal should inspire you and match your desires and needs. An important element, for example, is size—make sure the size suits what you are looking for. An A5 model is ideal for carrying with you everywhere.

Let your creativity flow
Your journal is your personal space to explore your thoughts and ideas. Don’t hesitate to experiment with different writing techniques, drawing, or collaging. Let your creativity flow and don't censor yourself—there is no right or wrong way to keep a journal.

Try to establish a routine
As with reading, journaling requires finding a moment in your day when you can dedicate time to your writing. For example, I love writing my "to-do list" at night before going to bed to prepare for the next day, and if I want to express my creativity or do some collaging, I prefer doing it in the morning. With experience, you learn more about yourself and find the ideal moment.

Let go and write for yourself
Journaling is a time without judgment. Don’t worry about grammar or spelling. You're writing only for yourself, not for an audience, not for social media—just for you. This will allow you to ensure maximum authenticity and honesty.

Be patient and kind to yourself
The final point, and in my opinion one of the most important to keep in mind: be patient! Journaling takes time to establish, just like any new task you want to incorporate into your routine. There are so many benefits to journaling, such as relaxation, stress reduction, personal development, memory improvement, and much more.

🌺 I hope this article inspires you to begin the wonderful journey of journaling 🌺
